What is the treatment for a ruptured Achilles tendon?
It is usually conservative (non-operative) in a Controlled Ankle Motion (CAM) boot or it may require surgery.
Most surgeons opt for conservative treatment, however, surgery may be considered if you re-rupture your Achilles tendon or if there’s a two weeks delay between when you ruptured your tendon, when a diagnosis was made and commencement of conservative bracing and treatment.

Most surgeons will recommend that you commence physiotherapy one week after surgery.
