What is Golfer’s Elbow?

It is a condition that causes pain on the inner side of the elbow. It may affect anyone who performs an activity that puts a repetitive strain on the wrist and forearm.

What causes Golfer’s elbow?

The most common cause is overuse of the tendon in the inner side of the elbow. It is common in people who play the following sports:

  • Golf

  • Tennis

  • Racquet ball

  • Squash

  • Weight lifting

  • Baseball

  • Rowing

It is also common in people with the following occupations:

  • Butchers

  • Plumbers

  • Construction workers

  • Regular computer users

  • Assembly line workers

  • Cooks

  • Rowing

  • Painters

How do I know if I have Golfer’s elbow?

You will experience the following symptoms:

  • Pain when bending your wrist, which extends from the inner side of your elbow to your wrist and sometimes your little finger

  • Pain when shaking your hands

  • A weak grip

  • Difficulty using the elbow and wrist

  • Stiffness of the elbow joint

  • A tingling sensation extending from the elbow to the ring and little finger
